Description

An attractive, firm fleshed early season nectarine adapted to the Southeastern United States. Origin: Byron, Georgia, USDA-ARS, by W. R. Okie. F2 seedling of Flamekist x P12-42. Selected in 1980. Tested as BY78N38. Introd. in 1997. Fruit: Globose-oblong, large, 80-90% attractive red blush with a yellow ground color. Flesh; melting, yellow with some red at pit cavity, freestone, firm, good texture, good flavor. Ripens one week before Red Haven. More tolerant of cracking and rot than Summer Beaut. Tree: Flowers large, showy, pink, self fertile. Leaf glands reniform. Upright spreading, vigorous and productive. Moderately tolerant of bacterial spot. 850 hours chilling.
