Description

Orig. in Calhoun, La., by P.L. Hawthorne and J.C. Taylor, Louisiana Agr. Expt. Sta., Louisiana State Univ. Introd. in 1973. Redglobe x Dixired. Cross made in 1959; selected in 1962; tested as L-59-12-1. Fruit: medium to large, round oval; skin yellow, overcolor 80% to 90% red, attractive, pubescence medium to long and heavy; flesh bright yellow with slight red throughout, firm, good texture and quality; equal halves; very few split pits; ripens 45 days before Elberta or Dixired. Tree: strong, medium vigor, productive; flower nonshowy. medium rose color; leaf glands reniform; good resistance to bacteriosis (Xanthomonas pruni);medium resistance to brown rot (Monilinia fructicola) ; chilling requirement 950 to 1000 h .
