Nectarine, 35% ripe, scarred/rough looking skin, some bown rot, some splits
Description
Diamond Ray nectarine (U.S.
Plant Patent No. 8948, Oct. 18, 1994) is characterized by a large size,
vigorous, hardy, productive and regular bearing tree. In California, the
variety bears in the first week of July. The fruit is uniform in size, excellent
in flavor, attractively globose in shape, clingstone in type, very firm
in texture and full red in skin color. The variety was developed as a hybridized
seedling from Red Diamond (USPP 3165), as the selected seed parent and an
unnamed seedling as the selected pollen parent. Resembles Summer Bright
(USPP 7049) but ripens 12 days earlier and has less red streaking in the
flesh. It is similar to Red Diamond but ripens 7 days later and is clingstone
instead of freestone. Licensed to Burchell Nursery.
